Racehorse Trainer
There are a number of horses that are currently in training with us that run at various levels. Some are through syndication which we work with, some are individual owners, and a couple of horses, are our own.
We train throughout the United States and race at numerous tracks, i.e., Canterbury, Santa Anita, Turf Paradise, Tampa Bay, etc.

CC Perkinson
A stakes winning jockey and a former racing analyst on TVG’s “The Quarters”, is back training at Los Alamitos Race Course for the first time in 19 years. CC saddled the Clubhouse Ride filly, Crookhaven Lass. Crookhaven Lass was Perkinson’s first starter here since January 27, 2002.
During her riding career, Perkinson won 46 Thoroughbred races, including 24 at Los Alamitos. She won 33 Arabian races and five Quarter Horse races. She also won the 1998 Santa Rosa Marathon on Katella Lad at 870 yards. Perkinson trained horses briefly in 2001 and 2002, saddling Policy Maker to a victory at Fresno in October 2001. Her stable was based in Northern California, but she did have two starters at Los Alamitos in 2002.
What People Are Saying
Jude Feld
A lover of animals her whole life, CC takes the time to understand them and attend to their needs. In the vein of Hall of Fame trainer Bobby Frankel, horses and dogs have attracted the bulk of her focus. Whether on the racetrack or in the show ring, the animals in her care have seen success at a high level.
Carolyn Okonek
CC was the owner/trainer of True Regards. True had sustained an injury on the track and CC thought it best to find him a new home where he would be able to rest, rehabilitate, and restart in a new career.
Kevin Steed
I have been in horse racing my entire life. Born and raised on the backside of just about every track west of Louisiana. I started working on the starting gate at Los Alamitos in 1987, sometime in the early 90’s I meet a up and coming female rider by the name if CC Perkinson.
Rebecca Bain
CC and I met when I was considering bringing home a retired racehorse and we instantly connected. Not only did she talk me through every step of the process – but agreed wholeheartedly when we realized that this horse (while wonderful) was not the right fit . . .
Glen Walker
Horse Racing has played a big part in my life. I grew up around the racetrack and participated in several capacities; Trainer, Asst Trainer, Paddock Judge, Identifier and Tattooer.
I’ve known CC for close to 20 years now. As a rider, she was fearless, always rode to win and always had the horses safety and well being at heart.

Attention to detail is CC’s strong suit and it only takes a single barn visit to see it in action. Because she takes the time to learn the nuances of each horse in her care, she can enjoy the success of each one as they blossom and become happy racing participants. Having ridden some top runners in the morning and in the afternoon gives her a special insight as she has the edge of being able to exercise many of her trainees on any given day.
Communication is another area where CC excels. She’s always available to discuss your horse’s schedule and progress or regression if necessary. It’s an open-door policy with her. You’ll know exactly what’s going on with your stable and the barn is always available to you.

I was looking for such a project.
From the first time we spoke, I knew that CC was intent on finding the perfect situation to place this horse who not only was injured, he also had some behavioral issues that if put in the wrong hands could spell disaster.
CC was very communicative about accurately describing the situation and we fully understood the challenges with this horse, and we were ready.
CC helped arrange transportation from Los Alamitos to Oregon and made sure True Regards papers and veterinarian documents were in order. CC made sure that the horse was prepared for his departure from the track and even made a sweet farewell video from racing life…
In an industry that seems to be lacking ethics at times, I am delighted to know that there are horse owners and trainers who really care about each of the animals that pass through their stable…
CC is a treasure in the horse race world.

She was fearless as a jockey, but I also noticed she was extremely smart about the way she rode, and her compassion for the horses was without measure. I have known CC for almost 40 years now and I can honestly say that her wisdom of horse racing and her compassion for the horses in her charge has not diminished, but has exceed with time.
I think any owner looking for a trainer that will always put the horse first and never keep anything from the people paying the bills…then CC Perkinson is the trainer you are looking for.

Since then, CC has always been available for guidance through the exciting and at times overwhelming experience of searching for my first horse. With her extensive experience and knowledge in the horse industry and her light hearted mentality, I’m beyond grateful to have CC in my life.
For CC, the horses come first. Health, love, and exercise play equal roles at Perkinson Racing Stables.

Her knowledge and professionalism speak for themselves. She will always do what’s best for the horses in her care and will always be honest and forthcoming with their owners. Stop by her barn, see the hard work, see the care and see the pride that reflects in every aspect of her operation.
